As should be evident from the results, the control part is much more important than the type of food being eaten.</p>

Choose the foods that work for you, control how much you eat, and be consistent. Combine your efforts with some exercise, commit to sticking with it for at least a year, and watch what happens.</p>

<p>The reason why I wanted to write this article was for one of two reasons. </p>
<p>To hopefully motivate to try the exercise ball the next time at the gym or to try an exercise on the stability besides crunches. That is what I meant when I previously stated that this was one of the most least utilized pieces of equipment at the gym. The exercise ball happens to be one most dynamic pieces of equipment at that gives you a huge range of exercise options.</p>
<p>One example would be a basic squat. Position the exercise ball between your lower back and the wall. Move your feet out about 8 to 12 inches. When you squat you want three 90 degree angles. Added difficulty would be to place your feet on a bench and keeping your hands on the exercise ball.</p>
<p>You can also place your hands on the ground and feet or knees on the exercise ball. To add difficultly you can try diamond push-ups or traveling push-ups. Traveling push-ups is where you move side to side while performing the push-up. You start by doing a normal push-up and then at the top, move the left hand to the right. The right hand then goes out further to the right. You would perform another push-up and move back to the left by moving your right hand to the left and then the left further to the left.</p>
<p>These are just two small examples. There are many, many more. I would like to invite you to do some further investigation on this and try a few of the exercises out. There are thousands of examples out there. The benefits will be a stronger core, possibly quicker weight loss and make your body more functional and less prone to injury.</p>

That being said, there are 3 so-called healthy foods out there that are marketed to you and I as if they are the best things in the world to eat to help lose weight. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The following shocking foods you are going to read about in this article are actually not healthy for you, and in some cases, can actually cause you to regain weight back, damage your digestive system, and so much more!</p>
<p>Deception is a very common tactic in the food industry. This is why you are noticing a ton of so-called healthy foods jumping on the market. They realize that by making something appear healthy (when it really isn&#8217;t) will cause people to become deceived and they will end up spending a ton of money thinking they are doing right thing with eating healthy.</p>
<p>Listen, i&#8217;ve been done the road of getting mediocre to absolutely no results whatsoever with trying to slim down. I want to help you avoid the misery I had to deal with. Once you understand thoroughly that what goes in your stomach is the greatest weapon for attacking pounds of stubborn fat, and then you go on a program based around proper nutrition, you are going to be absolutely amazed at how fast you&#8217;ll lose weight!</p>

<p>Low-fat food options&#8230;</p>
<p>This is a very popular type of food for those looking to get in shape. As soon as people see low-fat, they immediately think it&#8217;s healthy. This is certainly not the case. Most low-fat foods are usually higher in calories, and many people tend to eat more since they think this type of food isn&#8217;t going to pack on pounds. Furthermore, we actually need GOOD fats in our diet in order to effectively get in shape and improve our overall health. Most low-fat options do not contain this healthy fat (which is monounsaturated and omega fatty acids). The best foods with healthy fat are fish, nuts, olive oil, and more.</p>
<p>No-sugar foods and drinks&#8230;</p>
<p>For those who have or are at risk of developing diabetes are recommended to eat sugar-free foods. These foods and drinks have either no or low calories and no sugar.</p>
<p>At first this seems all fine and well. After all, sugar is one of the biggest things you MUST avoid in your diet as much as possible if you want to lose weight, burn fat, and stay healthy. However, in the case of sugar-free foods and drinks, this is where I recommend you draw the line. Sugar-free foods are replaced with unhealthy sugar alcohols and sugar substitutes (such as aspartame). What I recommend you do is to first avoid any type of soda (regular, diet, etc.), and if you want a sweetener that is healthy, I recommend using Stevia.</p>

<p>Smoothies are synonymous with eating healthy. They are delicious, nutritious, and filling. However, most store-bought smoothies are not healthy. The reason why is because they more than likely have a ton of calories you don&#8217;t know about (such as additional sugar, sugary fruit juices instead of actual fruit, ice cream, and more). The best solution is very simple: Make your own smoothies at home with a blender or juicing machine and all-natural products (organic milk, fresh fruit, etc.).</p>

<p>I chose this issue for this month, January, since health issues &#8212; and getting &#8220;healthier&#8221; in a number of ways &#8212; seem to be on everyone&#8217;s minds.  </p>
<p>We take up exercise (or head back to the gym), promise to get out of debt, or perhaps even think about going to church more, sticking with a meditation program or getting &#8220;toxic&#8221; folks out of our life.</p>
<p>Health is about our environment as a whole, not just the physical environment, but also the psychic environment &#8212; who we let in our lives an influence our energy. </p>
<p> And these health issues are sometimes out of our control.  We&#8217;ll also consider what in our world influences our health in our communities &#8212; asthma, environmental toxins, our housing, etc.</p>
<p>There are community health centers that focus on, and cater to, Latino populations.  These centers often (but not always) understand that Latinos may think very differently about health issues.</p>
<p>For example, Latinos have for a long time understood at some level that our emotions influence our health, and vice versa.  You can probably think of some examples of this.</p>
<p>Some of our families&#8217; &#8220;superstitious&#8221; ways and folk medicine have been remedies for the things that ail us.</p>
<p>And although in certain ways Latino communities have been very progressive from a health angle, in other ways, we have been less than open.</p>
<p>Mental health issues have long been a stigma in our communities &#8212; sometimes to the extent that we refuse to acknowledge even in our own families that something might be drastically wrong.  Issues such as schizophrenia, depression and manic disorders may not be recognized at all.</p>
<p>And our sexual health and well-being is something that is also not often addressed.</p>
<p>How do we take care of our own health, and do so in a way that encourages not only our own well-being, but that of those in our communities as well?</p>
<p>This month we&#8217;ll hear from women who work in different health arenas, and find out what issues they see, and how they deal with health concerns in their own lives.</p>
<p>What about YOU?  In what ways do you want to get healthier?  What are your challenges, and what are your strengths?  Go for it, chica!  This is the year to become the most Powerful Latina yet&#8230;</p>
